Terms of Service

Last updated: 29 April 2026

Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using WattFactory. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use WattFactory.

1. About WattFactory

WattFactory is a browser-based indoor cycling training platform operated by Robert Putt Technology ("we", "us", "our"), a project based in the United Kingdom. The service is accessible at app.wattfactory.fit and the marketing website at wattfactory.fit.

WattFactory allows users to connect compatible smart trainers via Bluetooth (BLE FTMS) or ANT+ and ride virtual routes or follow structured ERG workouts directly in a web browser.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use WattFactory. By creating an account you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have obtained consent from a parent or legal guardian.

WattFactory is intended for personal, non-commercial use. Use of the service on behalf of a business or organisation requires our prior written consent.

3. Your account

To access most features you must register for an account. You agree to:

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, are inactive for an extended period, or are used in a way that harms other users or the service.

4. Subscription plans and billing

Free plan

WattFactory offers a free tier with limited usage (currently up to 15 km per month in Route Mode and up to 30 minutes per month in ERG Workout Mode). Free plan limits may change with reasonable notice.

Pro plan

The Pro plan is available for £2.99 per month and provides unlimited access to all features. Billing is recurring and charged monthly to your chosen payment method.

Payments

All payments are processed by a third-party payment processor. By subscribing you authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis until you cancel. Prices are shown inclusive of any applicable VAT.

Cancellation

You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you will retain Pro access until that date and will not be charged again. We do not offer partial-month refunds unless required by law.

Refunds

If you believe you have been charged in error, open a support ticket within 14 days and we will investigate. Statutory rights under UK consumer law are not affected by this policy.

Price changes

We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days' notice. If you do not wish to continue at the new price, you may cancel before the change takes effect.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use WattFactory only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms. You must not:

We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations and to suspend or terminate access without notice where we reasonably believe a serious breach has occurred.

6. Health and safety

Indoor cycling is a physically demanding activity. By using WattFactory you acknowledge that:

7. Intellectual property

All content, software, design, trademarks, and other intellectual property on the WattFactory platform are owned by or licensed to Robert Putt Technology. Nothing in these terms grants you any right to use our intellectual property other than as necessary to use the service for its intended purpose.

You retain ownership of any data you upload or generate through the service (such as ride files and route data). By using WattFactory you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and display that data solely to provide the service to you.

8. Third-party services and integrations

WattFactory may integrate with or link to third-party services (for example, OpenStreetMap for route mapping, or export to Strava and Garmin Connect). These services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of any third-party service.

Web Bluetooth and Web USB functionality is provided by your browser. We are not responsible for limitations or changes to browser APIs that affect device connectivity.

9. Availability and changes to the service

We aim to keep WattFactory available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. Where we make material changes that affect paid subscribers, we will provide reasonable advance notice. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will provide at least 30 days' notice and pro-rate any unused subscription period.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

WattFactory is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will be error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that training metrics (power, speed, gradient simulation) will be accurate for any specific hardware configuration. Metrics are estimates based on physics models and the data you provide.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, Robert Putt Technology shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of WattFactory, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or personal injury.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising under or in connection with these terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total fees you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) £10.

These limitations apply whether the claim is based in contract, tort (including negligence), statute, or any other legal theory, and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Robert Putt Technology and its personnel from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the service, your violation of these terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights.

13. Termination

You may close your account at any time by opening a support ticket. Upon closure, your personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice or liability, if you breach these terms. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify you by email or via an in-app notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of WattFactory after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you should stop using the service and cancel any active subscription before the effective date.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

If you have a complaint or dispute, please open a support ticket first — we will do our best to resolve it informally before any formal proceedings are considered.
